Sweet Dreams

Dear Heavenly Father
We thank You for the nighttime
The shutting of the shades
Pillow soft upon our head
As heavy eyelids close we rest
Where stresses of the day do fade
Upon a midnight star
Shining above a feather bed of down
In Your mercy we are clothed
Rock us now to deepened sleep
And with sweet dreams
Keep us there
Where Your simple peace abides
And the stresses of the day, gone
Neath Your watchful eye, repose
Refresh our body, spirit, mind
Encompass us roundabout
Myriad angels drawn from Your side
Mellifluous, the song we hear
As we rest secure in You
Safe and warm till break of Dawn
